As a temporary employee there are no provisions to allow transfers between plants. If you are unable to continue your assignment at the facility you hired into, it is recommended that you notify the local management and voluntarily resign your position. Once you have resigned, you will be considered a former employee in good standing and you can reapply at a later date for re-employment. However, you are not given any preference over other applicants.
The hiring process consists of multiple steps as outlined below. You'll receive more detailed information about each step as you progress through the process.
- Online application
- Online assessment
- Job simulation exercise completed in-person at a GM facility or a nearby testing facility
- Background check
- Drug screen
General Motors is committed to being an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer and offers opportunities to all job seekers including individuals with disabilities. If you would like to request a reasonable accommodation for any step in the hiring process, email us at GMSupport@psionline.com. Please include a description of the specific accommodation you are requesting and be prepared to provide documentation supporting the request.
At this time, candidates are not required to have a high school diploma or GED to obtain an hourly job with General Motors.
General Motors sometimes has multiple facilities in a relatively small geographic region. If you are interested in working at a facility that is within close proximity to other General Motors facilities, your application will be valid for ALL facilities within that region. You will not be able to apply to just one facility within that region. Please visit the Locations/Regions tab to learn more.
Applications are accepted based on General Motors' hiring needs. If you do not see the position or facility/region to which you'd like to apply, it means we are not currently accepting applications for that position or facility/region. Feel free to check back often, as the site will be updated as hiring needs change.
As a reminder, some facilities are included as part of a larger geographic region (e.g. the Grand Rapids Components plant is included within the Greater Lansing Region). Be sure to check the Locations/Regions tab to see if you are able to apply to the specific facility in which you're interested, or if it is included within a larger region.
Your shift will be assigned based on General Motors' needs. Please note that you may be assigned to ANY shift.
Resumes are not collected as part of the Production hiring process.

Be sure to check the spelling of the email address you've entered and make sure there are no extra spaces before or after the address. If you have multiple email addresses, be sure to enter the one you used to apply.
